AEW Fight Forever brings you the world of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and the feel of wrestling games from the good old days.
What is AEW Fight Forever? AEW: Fight Forever is a wrestling game where you play fighters from the league AEW (All Elite Wrestling). This is the big competitor of the big organisation WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). AEW’s superstars include crowd favourites such as Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Hikaru Shida, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Jade Cargill.
AEW Fight Forever is developed by the legendary studio YUKE’s. They’ve been around for 25 years developing all sorts of iconic games in the genre, including THQ and 2K’s WWE games. The legendary WWF No Mercy from 2000 is the great inspiration and template for AEW Fight Forever.
But what does that mean for friends of cultivated brawls in the ring?
These are the cool features of AEW Fight Forever
Why was No Mercy so good? WWF No Mercy was released in 2000 on the venerable Nintendo 64, and the game is still considered the quasi “gold standard” for wrestling games today, making thousands of fans happy.
That’s why the developers of YUKE’s have brought Hideyuki Iwashita, the former director of No Mercy, into the team as a consultant. The following features, which were already good in No Mercy, should also impress the fans in AEW Fight Forever.
Editor and Campaign Mode: Like No Mercy, Fight Forever lets you customise and modify your own (or existing) wrestler to your heart’s content in the editor to create your perfect fighter. With your personal Wannabe superstar, you can then either compete in regular matches or try your hand at the story campaign.
The campaign was a big highlight in No Mercy and even offered several storylines. In AEW Fight Forever, you can also start a gripping campaign and fight your way through the ranks of the AEW League. In between, you use mini-games to get your wrestler in shape. So if you want an exciting campaign as well as a detailed editor, you can’t go wrong with AEW Fight Forever.
Intuitive Gameplay: No Mercy’s gameplay continues to receive praise from fans. It used a series of different basic manoeuvres that worked somewhat like a brute force version of rock-paper-scissors. The game was thus easy to learn but tricky to master.
Fight Forever follows a similar path here. On the one hand, the interface is very similar and fans of No Mercy will immediately feel at home. On the other hand, the gameplay here is also similar. In AEW Fight Forever, too, it is a matter of acting tactically cleverly, building up appropriate resources and then properly folding up the opponent.
Intuitive, easy-to-learn gameplay that nevertheless offers complexity is a firm feature in Fight Forever that should enchant any wrestling fan.
Funny couch sessions: AEW Fight Forever – like No Mercy – takes a different approach to many a modern wrestling game. It is less about an accurate simulation of a “real” fight, but about brute action and insane actions.
AEW Fight Forever offers more than 40 “weapons” that you can grab and use to hit your opponent. Still harmless and tame are folding chairs and baseball bats. If you really want to finish your opponent off, you can hit him with a dustbin or cool him down with a fire extinguisher.
In addition, there are over 10 game modes, including one in which the ring is wrapped in electrically charged barbed wire. In addition, the whole ring may blow up in your face, causing even more glorious chaos.
The developers of AEW Fight Forever never tire of emphasising how much they loved the old, classic wrestling games and how much they would like to present this fun to you again in a modern form.
