Ready to protect Hyrule once again? An insider from IGN gives new information about the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
Make a mark on your calendar: an insider shared information about the release date of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 in a podcast on Friday. According to rumours, the game will be released as early as November 2022.
Currently, there is no concrete release date for the sequel to the mega-success Breath of the Wild. Nintendo only announced that the game will be released in 2022. However, after fans waited in vain for more information at The Game Awards 2021 in early December, there were doubts as to whether the game would actually be released next year. BOTW 2 was also nominated as “Most Anticipated Game” at the awards show, as it had been the previous year.
So interest in a new adventure about Link is high. Rumour has it that despite the lack of an announcement, fans won’t have to wait too much longer. In an IGN Games podcast last Friday, Peer Schneider, IGN’s Chief Content Officer, revealed information about BOTW 2. According to Schneider, he had talked to some of Nintendo’s employees and explained in the podcast that they are very much looking forward to the upcoming year. Apparently, the release of the game is planned for November 2022.
This estimate is minor and unofficial information, but it still offers cause for anticipation. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released in 2017 for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch. In a very short time, the title established itself as one of the most successful and popular video games in history. In addition to top ratings averaging 97 percent as on Metacritic and numerous awards, the sales figures also speak for the success. By the end of 2020, over 20 million players had bought the game for the Switch, making it the best-selling title in the Zelda series.
