Archaelund is a rather classic role-playing game, but the change of perspective gives it a very special twist
Do you like turn-based battles but prefer to roam a fantasy world from a first-person perspective? Then Archaelund might be the right role-playing game for you. Developer 4 Dimension Games is trying to combine both in one game and is launching Early Access on Steam.

How to play Archaelund
At the beginning you create a party of two to four characters. You choose from races such as human, goblin or minotaur and select acareer – this is the name of the game’s classes.
At the beginning, only simple careers such as bandit or pilgrim are available, but these can later lead to an assassin or archmage. You can use talents, skills and spells to build up the combat characteristics of your party members.
The special thing about Archaelund is the change of perspective. While you explore the open game world in the ego perspective and in real time enemies trigger a turn-based combat system for which you switch to the iso perspective . This is intended to combine immersive exploration like in Skyrim with the tactical battles of Baldur’s Gate.
So far, the game has been extremely well received by Steam users, 90 percent of the reviews are positive. The second chapter of the main quest is to be added by the end of the year, as well as further quests, dungeons and new areas. A crafting mechanic will also be added. However, the developer is not planning the full release until the second quarter of 2026.
