A YouTuber has resurrected Liberty City from GTA 3 in the new UE5 and it looks stunning. However, the whole thing is unfortunately not playable.
Last November saw the release of the highly anticipated remake of three of Rockstar’s most legendary titles ever. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition combines GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas into one remaster package.
However, the release was overshadowed by massive technical problems and stutters, which led us to downgrade it from an already weak 63 to a 58. In the meantime, we have added one point, as the performance was at least improved a little with patch 1.04.
GTA 3: Fan project shows how it could work
A fan of the series now shows how it could be done more beautifully. The YouTube channel TeaserPlay has resurrected Liberty City from GTA 3 in the Unreal Engine 5, in the form of a concept trailer. That is, it is not a playable demo, but merely a so-could-it-look. According to the description below the video, TeaserPlay mainly made use of the lighting technology Lumen, which, along with Nanite, is one of the highlights of UE5. Take a look at the video for yourself:
Partially, the effects might seem a bit exaggerated, slightly overblown. But it is, after all, a trailer, which may well come across a bit more polished than a playable version. However, we could hardly imagine more beautiful skyscraper canyons and vehicles.
Concept trailer for Vice City and San Andreas
TeaserPlay has not only created a concept trailer for GTA 3 in the Unreal Engine 5, but also videos for the other two series spin-offs of the much-maligned GTA: The Trilogy can be admired on the YouTube channel:
