Yesterday the big graphics upgrade for GTA 5 was released and even though numerous players rushed to the prettified Los Santos, the mood in the Steam reviews is not exactly good.
The next-gen update is now finally available for PC. Console gamers got the visual leap forward for GTA 5 three years ago, and now ray tracing, DLSS 3, FSR 3.0, faster loading times and more are also available on PC.
Sounds good at first, many Steam players thought, but the rush quickly gave way to great frustration, as the current user reviews show. In the GlobalESportNews test, the criticism is also reflected in the rating!
Many players, many complaints
GTA 5 Enhanced reaches according to SteamDB almost 190,000 simultaneously active players and thus, incidentally, in parallel with the still existing Legacy Edition, enters the top 10 on Steam.
Less good are other numbers, namely the number of Steam reviews As of this writing, they are 50 percent negativeand stand in stark contrast to the 87 percent positive ratings of GTA 5 Legacy, the game variant without a graphics upgrade.
Steam users have three main concerns
Only a few players have something to complain about when it comes to the visual enhancements. However, there are three points that bother a large number of them:
- The limit of the frame rate at 120 FPS
- The text chat in online mode no longer exists
- Players cannot transfer their account to the Enhanced Edition
Steam users L4bel writes: “Limited to 120 FPS and you call that better optimization. It may be ray tracing, but the game seems to have more contrast. And why is there no online chat?”
SwagTheDripper sees no point in the update if the account is not transferred:
Okay, so far, so good. But why exactly can’t I transfer my SP or MP game state? Why should I even play if I can’t continue my whole game state anyway?
The player aiko is also not impressed: “I can’t transfer my account and frames are limited to 120 FPS. lol, I heard they removed the text chat probably to keep hackers from sending spam messages. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess. I’ll stick with Legacy. This is so bad.”
There is currently no statement from developer Rockstar Games about the problems with account transfers, nor is there any reason given for the shutdown of text chat.
Please note that there is no way to play with players from the Legacy Edition using the Enhanced Edition. The two editions will continue to run separately.
