GTA 6 will be years in coming, official details about the next Rockstar game are almost non-existent. But rumours and alleged leaks about story, gameplay and more are pouring in. In the last few months, for example, a user with the appropriate name GTA_VI_Leak caused a stir and discussions in the community.
We also reported on the alleged story and gameplay details about the supposedly playable characters Ricardo, Casey and Rose, but already doubted their authenticity at the time. Now, industry expert and insider Jason Schreier personally comments on them and calls them fan fiction, while revealing at least one real detail about GTA 6 – which was pointed out by Twitter user Okami.

What you should know now about a GTA 6 leak
What leak are we talking about? GTA_VI_Leak posted months ago an alleged collection of information about the story and gameplay of the next Grand Theft Auto. According to this, the story will revolve around the three playable characters Ricardo, Casey and Rose, the open world will include three cities and drug use and the weather will have a direct effect on the gameplay.
We already had strong doubts about the alleged leak. Many of the details simply sounded like a logical development of known features from previous Rockstar games, while they partly directly contradict the information of credible and reliable insiders like Tom Henderson or Jason Schreier.
Furthermore, the author of the post claimed to work under Rockstar as an employee of an external PR company. The fact that the developer studio is giving out so many details at this point, while GTA 6 had not even been officially announced or unveiled, simply did not make sense for such a closely guarded secret as GTA 6.
What does Jason Schreier have to say about this? The Bloomberg editor calls rumours about GTA 6 fan fiction directly in the comments of the corresponding Reddit posts. According to him, no one is in possession of such detailed information at the moment, while some details of the development of GTA 6 have not even been decided yet. This should make the truth of all posts by GTA_VI_Leak superfluous.

If you”re not quite sure who Jason Schreier is, here”s a little refresher: The former Kotaku journalist is currently employed by the news portal Bloomberg and has been considered one of the most reliable insiders and sources in the gaming industry for many years. His information can therefore be taken for granted with a clear conscience.

GTA 6 probably with two protagonists instead of three
What else does Schreier reveal about GTA 6? According to the industry expert, the next Grand Theft Auto could do without a unique selling point of its predecessor. In contrast to GTA 5, there will be no three playable protagonists in the new part, according to Schreier. In GTA 5, players still switched between the characters Michael, Trevor and Franklin and experienced the story from the respective different perspectives of these characters.
However, the Bloomberg editor does not go into further detail – and probably on purpose. Accordingly, he does not reveal whether Rockstar is relying on one, two or even more than three characters for GTA 6.
But we can refer to information from insider Tom Henderson: According to him, there will be two playable characters in GTA 6 – one male and one female. Of course, this is now in line with Schreier”s latest claim.
What we know about GTA 6 so far
Concrete information about GTA 6 can currently be counted on the hand. Rockstar has so far at least officially confirmed that the next Grand Theft Auto is in development. And we probably won”t get to play it before 2024 to 2025.
According to Jason Schreier, GTA 6 will have a smaller map than GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 at release. In the weeks and months after launch, however, this is supposed to change.
