Is the surprise of the year just around the corner? A leaker claims to have found out the release date of the next GTA part – and provides plausible reasons for his claim.
The Playstation 2 had three GTAs – GTA 5 had three Playstations. Most of you probably know that saying. And still there is no official sign from developer Rockstaras to when the next part of their popular gangster series might be released. A leaker, of all people, wants to shed some light on the matter. The (Twitter user Budz) has learned that GTA 6 will be officially announced this year. It could be the surprise of the year – if true. After all, the wildest rumours keep swirling around the sixth Grand Theft Auto sequel. However, Budz, who has been dealing with GTA developer Rockstar Games in detail for quite some time, provides convincing reasons under his tweet: He writes that the studio will announce the game in November or December. A big unveiling during the Game Awards at the beginning of December is conceivable. A first trailer should also be released during this period. Apparently, the company wants to go for the maximum surprise effect: “It will shake the gaming world, the surprise of the century. Believe me”. According to Budz, the release date is targeted for November 2024, which is pretty much exactly one year after the official announcement. That would leave the developers around twelve months for marketing and promotional activities. Further Budz writes that Rockstar, in order to keep the game secret so far, is deliberately spreading false information also among the employees in order to smoke out leaks within the company. However, he is 100 per cent sure that he has found out the correct release date. Previously leaked gameplay was taken from old versions of the game from 2020 and did not reflect the current state of development. We had also reported in April that a release was probably targeted for 2024. However, even then, industry insiders like Tom Henderson suggested that a delay to 2025 was likely. As always, caution is advised with all this information. Leakers’ claims, while often proven to be correct, cannot be independently confirmed. However, Rockstar’s latest financial report provides a solid indication for the release date in late 2024/early 2025. In it, the publisher writes that in the period between April 2024 and March 2025, it will “launch several groundbreaking titles that will set standards in the games industry”.
