No other video game makes such waves years before its release as Grand Theft Auto 6. And ever since the first official trailer hit the screens last December, fans can hardly wait to finally hold GTA 6 in their hands when it is released in 2025.
GTA 6 not until 2026? Reports suggest reasons for a postponement
In the past, many of Rockstar’s highly anticipated titles have been delayed due to various circumstances. As Kotaku now reports, GTA 6 could also be affected by a postponement. It was only at the beginning of the year that the developer instructed its employees to return to the office five days a week, making it impossible to work on Grand Theft Auto 6 from home. The reason was said to be security concerns – understandable, considering the heavy leaks that circulated in advance
However, there are allegedly also other reasons that could lead to a possible postponement of the GTA 6 release. For example, production of the title is already “behind schedule” and although the release is not planned until 2025, it looks like it won’t actually be launched until the last few months of next year – if not 2026.
So if the developers continue to fall behind, we’ll have to wait even longer for GTA 6 than we initially thought. In any case, the profit forecasts for the 2024/25 financial year published by Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive in February revealed that the title could be released in April of next year at the earliest.
