Rockstar has announced its latest update for GTA Online with The Contract. The free expansion is to be released for the multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto 5 in December and will bring new missions, weapons and cars. In the following overview we provide you with all information about the release and content of The Contract – where, by the way, Dr. Dre plays a leading role and Franklin returns from the single player story.

Release: When will The Contract be released?
The Contract will be released on 15 December 2021. There is currently no exact release time. According to experience, new updates for GTA Online are usually released in the course of the morning, so you should be able to get started around 11 a.m. German time.

New Content: What kind of content will The Contract bring?
The new December update for GTA Online brings a range of fresh content, which we have lined up for you in the following list. As soon as there are additional details about the expansion, we will of course deepen the info.
- Franklin Clinton returns: GTA Online players will finally find out what happened to Franklin – one of the main characters alongside Michael and Trevor – after the single player campaign of GTA 5. Franklin has probably said goodbye to the criminal underworld of Los Santos and started a career in the music industry. His buddy Lamar and the dog Chop also make an appearance.
- New Story: You may remember the opening scene of the Cayo Perico Heist, in which the rapper already made an appearance? In The Contract, you help Dr. Dre (yes, the real one) recover his unreleased music, which seems to have fallen into the wrong hands. The musician DJ Pooh is also in on the action.
- New missions: To reclaim Dr. Dre’s music, we’ll be transported to the streets of Los Santos, decadent mansions, the FIB office buildings and more. It is currently impossible to say how many missions there will be and what they will be. It is also not known whether there will be a new Heist.
- New property? The fact that there is a new property does not explicitly emerge from the current information on The Contract – but it is quite likely. So far, almost every update has delivered a new property, which then formed the basis for the corresponding missions. We strongly assume that this time it will be an agency.
- New weapons: With the Compact EMP Launcher and the Stun Gun two new weapons land in GTA Online. It is currently unknown whether The Contract will deliver more.
- New Cars: With the Enus Jubilee and the Dewbauchee Champion two new cars of The Contract are already known. How many new cars there will be in total, we don’t know at the moment.
- New radio station: Last but not least, GTA Online will not only be expanded by a new radio station, updates of already existing ones are also planned. However, fans will have to wait for further information on this matter.
Price: How much does the new extension cost?
No paid update: The expansions for the multiplayer mode of GTA 5 do not require a real money payment. However, you must be able to afford the new content of The Contract with your in-game assets.
So you get access to the new missions, weapons and cars if you have enough GTA dollars in your virtual Mazebank account. Theoretically, of course, you can use the paid Shark Cards to increase your savings, but GTA Online offers you enough opportunities to simply earn GTA dollars.
