Rumour after GTA Trilogy – Is the GTA 4 remaster also coming?

As reported by the leaker RalphsValve on Twitter, a polished up version of GTA 4 is to be released in 2023. However, one important feature of the game is supposedly missing.

While Rockstar Games is launching three classics in new guises with the GTA Trilogy on 11 November, a remaster version of the classic Grand Theft Auto 4 is also reportedly in development. As the leaker RalphsValve has learned, the game is to be released in 2023. However, one important feature of the original will allegedly be missing.

In the Twitter thread posted by the leaker on Monday afternoon, RalphsValve claims that the GTA 4 remaster will only include a single player mode. A multiplayer is not planned. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC. In addition, the game will be released as a bundle together with an upgraded version of “Episodes from Liberty City”. These are two expansions in the form of side stories that take place in the expanded perimeter of the main story.

The leaker emphasised that the new version is explicitly not a remake, i.e. a completely new programming and presentation of the game. The game is merely to be adapted to the technical standards of the new consoles and thus made more attractive.

The information source RalphsValve is actually best known for leaks around Call of Duty, which so far have often coincided with info from trusted sources like Tom Henderson.

GTA 6 even later than expected?

While the leak should make fans of the old GTA games happy, those waiting for new stories from the GTA universe will have to be patient. Rumours had last suspected the release of GTA 6 in 2023. However, if a GTA 4 remaster really does appear this year, the release of a sixth spin-off is likely to recede further into the distance.
