Not much longer and the League of Legends year 2023 goes into its first round with the Winter Split. In the meantime all compositions of the individual rosters are more or less confirmed
Former FNATIC superstar Martin “Rekkles” Larsson is back with his old love and so is the LEC
The weekend of 21 and 22 January will see a first in the LEC, Europe”s top League of Legends league. With the introduction of the Winter Split, the premier league will be split into three seasonal sub-sections for the first time since its inception.
Format change or not, in what is now the ninth season, the only thing that counts for the teams in the fight for the title is their performance in the Rift. And once again, the players are mainly responsible for that.
Most of the ten rosters have now been unveiled and officially confirmed. Here we provide the overview for you

LEC: The projected rosters for 2023
The reigning Summer Split champion is coming off the most successful season in his history. It is all the more surprising that with Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu, an integral part will apparently leave the team. The crowd favourite is to be given away to Excel. Mathias “Szygenda” Jensen is apparently earmarked as a replacement. The rest of the team, however, is expected to remain the same. An official confirmation from KOI is still pending.

- Jungle: Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong
- Mid: Emil “Larssen” Larsson
- AD Carry: Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos
- Support: Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus
G2 Esports
The record-breaking champions are coming off a summer season half that was disappointing – by the standards of the organisation. They lost the LEC final 3-0 to Rogue and were eliminated in the group stage of the Worlds. The roster is correspondingly new. Only on the top and mid lane there were no changes. With Steven “Hans Sama” Liv and Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, among others, two top-class players known in the league will occupy the bot-lane from 2023 onwards.
- Top: Sergen “Broken Blade” Celik
- Jungle: Martin “Yike” Sundelin
- Mid: Rasmus “Caps” Borregaard Winther
- AD Carry: Steven “Hans Sama” Liv
- Support: Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle

Fnatic
While G2 was definitely expected to see more drastic roster changes based on performance, that wasn”t necessarily the case with Fnatic. Nevertheless, after four long years, you won”t find original gem Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov in the FNC squad. Instead, prodigal son Martin “Rekkles” Larsson returns. Elias “Upset” Lipp is the sufferer of the whole story. Apparently, the German has not found a place in the LEC for the winter split despite some outstanding performances.
- Top: Martin Nordahl “Wonder” Hansen
- Jungle: Iván Martín “Razork” Díaz
- Mid: Marek “Humanoid” Brázda
- AD Carry: Martin “Rekkles” Larsson
- Support: Rúben “Rhuckz” Barbosa

MAD Lions
A lot has happened over the offseason for the Lions, who finished fourth last summer, too. Despite a good regular season, they failed to make the playoffs early on. At the Worlds, they didn”t even make it to the main stage after failing to qualify for the play-ins. The only remaining players were superstar Javier “Eyloya” Prades Batalla and summer MVP Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer. However, the MAD Lions have certainly not become weaker with the following line-up.

- AD Carry: Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság
- Support: Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov

Team Heretics
The newcomer of the new season goes straight into his first LEC split with a promising mix of experience and hunger. The Spaniards pair seasoned veterans like Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski with promising talent, most notably Lee “Ruby” Sol-min, who won the domestic Strauss Prime League last year with the Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition.
