Mid-lane star Perkz

Mid-lane star Perkz is not allowed to transfer to European team Fnatic – His two previous teams G2 Esports and Cloud9 blocked it in the contract. Riot Games is adjusting the transfer rules hereafter.

The transfer of top player Luka “Perkz” Perković attracted a lot of attention last offseason. Now new information has come to light regarding the agreement between the teams involved, G2 Esports and Cloud9. According to the news portal dotesports.com, both organisations have prevented Perkz from switching to Fnatic through a clause in the contract. This was supposed to be prohibited by the agreement for three years. Perkz chose Team Vitality as his new starting position this offseason.

Perkz’s transfer this past offseason from G2 Esports to North American team Cloud9 was one of the biggest of the entire year. Already last December, however, it came to light that the owner of G2, Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez, had somewhat restricted the professional’s decision: arch-rival Fnatic was not to get the Croatian under any circumstances.

G2 and Cloud9 block Fnatic?

New information now revealed that Perkz’s new team Cloud9 was also involved in this restriction at the time through a three-year contract clause. Fnatic reportedly approached Perkz again this offseason, but was turned down. The team now sees said clause as being responsible.

According to dotesports sources, Fnatic recently filed a complaint about G2 Esports and Cloud9 influencing Perkz’s team selection. Officials from Riot Games’ LEC investigated the case, but found no acute influence on Perkz’s decision: Fnatic would not have reached a financial agreement with Cloud9 and Perkz anyway.

Riot Games reaction

Although the investigation by Riot Games did not find Fnatic to be in the right with its complaint and therefore does not cause any sanctions for G2 or Cloud9, the incident has consequences for future player transfers. In any future contractual agreements between the teams, additional clauses such as the one regarding the potential Fnatic switch should no longer be allowed.

But Riot Games as well as G2 Esports and Cloud9 declined to make an official comment on the matter
