Europeans punch last World Cup ticket

In the end, it came as many expected: Once again, the LEC triumphed over its sister league from North America and clinched the last Worlds ticket in the form of Team BDS.

It has always been the big question: “Which league is better, the LEC or the LCS?”.

To this day, this can be answered with a very simple statement: “LEC!”. In fact, the Europeans have always been ahead of the North Americans in almost all major competitions. Accordingly, before the start of the Worlds Qualification Match between the Golden Guardians and Team BDS, the roles were clearly distributed.

The “underdog” from the USA will meet the fourth-placed team from the European top league.

Dominance, right from the start

In fact, the result could not have been clearer. From the start, BDS dominated the match, finishing the first game in just 20 minutes and 20 seconds. Not a good outlook for the Golden Guardians.

On the other hand, things looked different in the second round of the encounter. Especially Eric “Licorice” Ritchie was able to set some accents on the top lane and take a kill from his opponent Adam “Adam” Maanane. In hindsight, however, it was to remain single actions. Although GG played well and stood up to BDS at times, this did not change the final result and another victory for the Europeans.

Accordingly, it came as it had to come and Team BDS secured a 3-0 victory in less than 30 minutes and thus the last remaining World Cup ticket.

Group stage kick-off

This means that the LEC is now represented by a total of four teams at the League of Legends World Championship, which starts tomorrow, Tuesday 10 October 2023, with the start of the Play-In Stage. Here, BDS will face teams from PSG Talon, GAM Esports, Team Whale and LOUD, among others.
