While LEC and LCS are announcing the Summer Splits, the Spring Split in the Chinese LoL Pro League is still in full swing. Both favourites have now lost in the semi-finals.
In the final of the LPL Spring Split 2020 are JD Gaming and Top Esports. JD Gaming, who started from second place in the playoffs, won the game against FunPlus Phoenix with a clear 3-0 victory.
The reigning world champion and defending champion FPX is now already eliminated in the semi-finals. The 2018 World Champion didn’t fare much better: Invictus Gaming lost 3-1 to Top Esports, who came fourth in the regular season.
New champion is crowned in the final
After the Spring Split last year, this final is the second opportunity for JD Gaming to win one of the splits in the Chinese top league. For opponents of Top Esport it is the first LPL final after several defeats in previous semi-finals.
Overall, JD Gaming seems to be the stronger team at the moment, especially the flawless win against the world champion was a small demonstration of power. The winner of the LPL Spring Split will be announced on 02.05.
