Riot Games has announced that the finals of the 2020 splits will be held in Hungary and Sweden. This is a novelty for Hungary.
League of Legends publisher Riot Games has announced that the finals of Season 10 will take place in Hungary and Sweden.
A first time Hungary
On April 25 and 26 Budapest hosts the LEC Spring Finals – for the first time.
“We are very pleased to bring the LEC to Hungary and Budapest with the Spring Finals for the first time. Budapest is not only one of the most picturesque cities on the continent, but also a strong centre for the growing eSports community in Hungary and Eastern Europe as a whole. We are proud to be part of this growing market and bring League of Legends eSports live to fans in a new country,” said Riot Games.
The Hottest Gaming City in Europe
For the summer split the league returns to Sweden, but to a new city. The finals are planned for August 29 and 30 in the Malmö Arena. This is a multifunctional arena and serves as an ice hockey stadium and concert hall. Between 12,600 and 15,500 visitors can be accommodated there.
“Malmö is a young and up-and-coming city in which gaming is becoming increasingly deeply rooted. We are happy to host the LEC 2020 Summer Finals together with Riot Games. It is an important step for us to become the best gaming city in Europe,” says Ann Nyström, Destination Manager for the city of Malmö.
Malmö is home to numerous gaming and production studios. In addition, the city is constantly investing in educational initiatives and creative opportunities to further develop its gaming presence.
Among other things, Massive Entertainment is based in Sweden’s third largest city. The development studio most recently produced Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 for Ubisoft.
