Due to technical problems, all matches of Royal Never Give Up at the League of Legends Mini World Championship were cancelled. The LPL champion will have to replay the matches.
Easy come, easy go. Defending champions Royal Never Give Up (RNG) have already won their preliminary round matches at the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). However, these were all cancelled due to a discrepancy in ping and will have to be replayed.
The champions from China and MSI co-favourites are the only team not competing locally in the tournament. Due to quarantine regulations in China, RNG was not allowed to enter the venue in Busan, South Korea. However, LoL developer and publisher Riot Games had set up the technology in advance using a tool so that an artificial ping of 35ms would apply to all teams in order to maintain fairness.

However, there seems to have been a bug with the tool, causing problems for teams on the ground in South Korea during matches against RNG. The latency is said to have shown an unintended difference, which in the end was an advantage for the LPL champion. Due to the gaffe, Riot Games decided to replay the defending champion’s previously contested matches.
wait
rng has to re play all of their games ? 🤣🤣🤣

RNG already secured their first win again against fastPay Wildcats. This return match was already played on Friday. The matches against RED Candis Kalunga and PSG Talon will then take place on Saturday and Sunday. The situation caused some laughter among other Esport players, such as LoL player Lukas “Perkz” Perković, who couldn’t quite believe it all at first.
