Riot Games has given a glimpse of the last League of Legends patch of 2022. Patch 12.23 is expected to include changes for junglers and tanks in particular.

Riot Games’ balance lead designer Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison posted a preview for patch 12.23 in League of Legends on Twitter on Tuesday. This is set to officially hit the live servers on December 7 as the last update of the year.

I think the team is working on balancing the Jungle in particular. “The systems seem to be about right, so we are making changes to Champions.
make. Tanks are weak , so we are strengthening them (instead of items),” Phroxzon said. The Jungle changes are for “balance and feel”, he said.

The plan for patch 12.23 is to buff a total of nine champions and tone down six. Kassadin and Dr Mundo are also to receive general adjustments. The item Sunfire Cape will reportedly be improved and the recently extremely popular item Ravenous Hydra will be made worse for it.

These champions are expected to be buffed:

  • Zeri
  • Sion
  • Cho’Gath
  • Amumu
  • Kayn (Shadow Kayn)
  • Maokai
  • Zac
  • Tahm Kench
  • Malphite

These champions are expected to be generated:

  • Yuumi
  • Syndra
  • Murdekaiser
  • Shyvana
  • Trundle
  • Lillia

These Jungle changes are to come:

  • 20 Base  True Damage ⇒ 16 Base True Damage for Pets
  • After the first evolution, consume 2 Bonus Treats when killing large monsters to receive the above benefits.
  • The 20% damage increase does not apply to epic monsters anymore.
  • 10% bonus Armor/-MR is converted to True Damage for Pets
  • Bonus HP Ratio: 4% ⇒ 3%
  • HP regeneration per level on monster kill: 3 ⇒ 6
  • Manaregeneration per level on monster kill: 2 ⇒ 4
  • Treat Gold: 50 ⇒ 35
  • Experience Multiplier: 1/1/1,025/1,075/1,15/1,15/1,25/1,25/1,35 at level 1-9 ⇒ 1/1/1,025/1,075/1,2/1,2/1,3/1,3/1,45 at level 1-9

Monsters

  • Gromp Range of auto attacks: 175 ⇒ 150
  • Large Razorbeak Range of Auto-Attacks: 300 ⇒ 200
  • The centres of leash range are offset from the spawn position of the camps to give champions more room to move and kite

Mosstomper

  • Tenacity buff  Duration: 3s ⇒ 1.5s
  • Tenacity type: Item ⇒ Champion

Despite some complaints from players about the new Heartsteel item, Phroxzon says it will probably only be toned down in ARAM game mode. The item is reasonably balanced in the usual mode on Summoner’s Rift. Phroxzon also explained that Riot will make adjustments should Tanks or Heartsteel negatively affect the meta. Until then, however, the game should first unfold.
