Faker has made it to the quarter-finals of the MSI with T1. Find out how the LoL superstar feels about his recent games and how important a win is to him here.

T1 is already known for being one of the strongest League of Legends teams in the world. The famous mid-laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok also contributes to this. In the Mid-Season Inivitational, or MSI for short, they have now also made it to the semi-finals.

After T1 set a record with a win streak in the LCK, they continued their success in the group stage of the MSI. The team won a total of 26 games in a row – until G2 stopped them in the Rumble Stage. After that, there seemed to be some problems at T1, as their performance deteriorated.

Defeats and problems

The team then tried to work on that immediately. “In the first two games we lost, I made some mistakes in the game. I thought a lot about those moments. […] In our third loss, which we took against EG, we seemed to have problems in terms of the direction of our team or our draft priorities. After the loss to EG, we tried to work through our issues in a variety of ways,” Faker explains looking back.

The reappraisal seems to have worked well, because after the match against EG, T1 won every match again. Faker himself also describes this as a turning point of sorts, because “after we lost to EG, we figured first place in the Rumble Stage was kind of GG at that point. Which took some pressure off everyone. […] But the players also realised how serious the problems we had were. “

This allowed T1 to work on gameplay again and use their greatest strength. “The individual players on T1’s roster are all very talented, which allows us to execute a variety of styles of play. […] For example, the meta changed between MSI and last spring season. But we were able to move on and adapt to the meta and  improve,” Faker said.

Faker: “Winning this MSI means a lot to me. “

Currently, then, T1 is looking very strong again. Still, Faker remains critical and admits he regrets every game he loses. Indeed, winning the tournament in his homeland would be very important to him.

“A lot of South Korean fans are cheering for us at the moment. If we win here in Korea, the joy of the fans would be very close to me. Also, we are aiming for a first international trophy in a long time. Winning this MSI also means a lot to me personally.”

Whether that will happen will be decided in just a few days. But first, Faker and T1 have to face G2 in the semi-finals. This match will be on the Riot Games Twitch channel on 28 May at 10 am. The final will then take place on 29 May.
