This year we can expect some innovations in the most important tournament of the season.

The 13th League of Legends World Championship Series will take place again after 5 years in the Esports stronghold of Korea. There, the 22 top international teams will compete for the victory and the title of the world champion.

WINNER OF WM QUALIFICATION ROUND

Decided on October 9 between Golden Guardians (GG) from the North American LCS and Team BDS (BDS) from the European LEC.

What’s new?

New is the Swiss Stage, where the remaining 8 teams that made it through the preliminary round will compete against each other. The Swiss System tries to put teams of approximately equal strength against each other. Accordingly, the winners of the first round then play each other in round 2, while the losers also meet in round 2 and so on for the further rounds. The special feature here is that the first 2 matches are best-of-1’s. This is followed by best-of-3’s where the winners and losers are determined.

The kickoff will be the duel between PSG Talon and Movistar R7 on 10.10 at 09:00 CEST.
