A surprise release: Riot Games is releasing Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, targeting solo role-players.

Just yesterday, Halo: Infinite’s multiplayer mode made a surprise release and now publisher Riot Forge is following a similar strategy. Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is available now – without any big announcement of a release date.

The solo role-playing game from developer Airship Syndicate has been announced since 2019, but apart from our preview, it has been suspiciously quiet around the project lately. Now that quiet period is over, as the game is finished and ready for purchase on both PC and consoles.

Ruined King: All info on the release

What is Ruined King: A League of Legends Story?

Ruined King is one of the many projects that Riot Forge, the publishing arm of Riot Games, is pursuing in collaboration with other developers. With this, the company wants to open up the huge League of Legends universe to players who previously had no idea what to do with the MOBA – similar to the current Netflix series Arcane.

Ruined King is a classic single-player role-playing game that is oriented towards the old JRPG school in the style of earlier Final Fantasy games. As a group of up to six heroes, you explore the dark Shadow Isles, take on various enemies in turn-based battles, level up your heroes and even upgrade them with new equipment.

When will Ruined King be released?

Wait no more, because Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will be available on November 16, 2021.

For which platforms will Ruined King be released?

Ruined King will be released on several platforms. On PC, you can buy the single-player role-playing game at (Steam), as well as at the (Epic Games) store and at (GOG).

In addition, the release will also take place on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

What versions of Ruined King are available to buy?

Two versions will be available for purchase on all platforms, differing only in content with some bonuses.

  • Standard Edition: The normal edition costs 30 euros and contains only the main game
  • Deluxe Edition: For ten euros more you will receive skin variants for all six playable champions in the game, as well as a weapon and starter pack

What else is currently happening in League of Legends?

There’s a lot going on at League of Legends right now – especially outside of the MOBA. Only recently, the first League of Legends animated series, Arcane, was launched on Netflix, which tells its very own story. That’s particularly handy, because the story is suitable even for MOBA buffers, as we note in our review of the previous acts:

Arcane: Give the Netflix series a chance, regardless of whether you like League of Legends

In addition, Riot has Forge working on more games that place themselves within the fantasy universe. In 2022, Conv/rgence and Song of Nunu are to be released, which will bring the champions Ekko and Nunu into the limelight.
