Riot Games has developed a successful game with LoL. But they also want to use the world on LoL for an MMORPG. Here’s what we know about it.

Riot Games has brought some of the announced games to the market in the last few years. These include VALORANT, Wild Rift and Ruined King, for example. But their MMORPG, often also called “Project F”, is still a long time coming. What is the current status of the LoL offshoot?

The League of Legend MMORPG

Riot Games announced a few games at the end of 2019. They talked about VALORANT, but also their future Fighter game and an MMORPG. Some of the games they mentioned then have since been released. But Riot is not reporting that much about the MMO yet. Still, they have made one thing clear: Project F will take place in the LoL universe.

Characters and Classes

So what does this mean for the game’s characters? We will probably encounter some familiar faces in the MMORPG. Especially popular champions from League of Legends like Ahri or Akali will certainly be implemented in Project F. We are even already sure about one champion, because Blitzcrank was already seen in a short gameplay excerpt in the introduction video.

In addition, it is already known that there will be different classes, as in many other MMOs. If we orient ourselves on LoL again, we can expect classes like Tank, Mage, Fighter, Slayer and Controller. Possibly we will also see the subclasses, for example Assassins.

Since the MMORPG is based on the LoL universe, we can assume that the cities and locations also refer to it. After all, Riot Games has already put a lot of work into the stories and backgrounds of their champions in the past, so that the world of Runeterra has also become well-known.

What about raids?

Lead Producer Greg Street has already announced that there will be raids like in other MMOs. These LoL MMORPG raids are even supposed to be the most important part of the end game. Street himself was once a member of the World of Warcraft development team and is therefore, according to his own statement, very attached to the dungeons and raids.

There is no official release date for the game yet. It will probably take some time, as the team is still in the initial phase. However, it is quite possible that Riot Games will soon publish more information about their MMORPG.
