In a video, the developers answer questions about update 1.19, including why planned features such as the fireflies are not coming after all.
With update 1.18, Minecraft delivered some of the most exciting new features in recent years. Improved terrain generation and new caves made the world more impressive than ever before.
No wonder, then, that expectations for the next version of Minecraft, christened The Wild by the developers, are very high. When it was announced, update 1.19 sounded very promising, but in the meantime the developers have backed out of some planned features. Why is that? You can find out here.
Developer video answers questions about 1.19
Information about Mojang’s plans for 1.19 is provided in a video in which questions posed by fans are answered. It also discusses why the planned reworking of the birch forest biome and the introduction of fireflies will not be implemented
Mojang’s plans for 1.19 are not clear.
To the Birch Forests had been presented at Minecraft Live Concept Art. However, this was only a preview of possible future improvements. In 1.19, the biome will not be reworked.
Glowworms should serve as a food source for the frogs, according to the developers. However, it was pointed out that in reality the glowing insects were often poisonous for frogs and toads. Therefore, they have been removed from update 1.19. Although the idea was still interesting, an implementation in the next updates was not planned.
By the way,
Minecraft does not have a problem with hungry frogs for the first time. In a previous snapshot, they had eaten entire goats until the developers intervened.
Community disappointment
Many fans are dissatisfied with the answers. For example, it was not explained why fireflies were not simply removed from the frogs’ menu instead of being removed from the update altogether. Not everyone can understand why so much attention is paid to realism in the world of blocks. JetpackWater, for example, writes on Reddit:
☻
They don’t add fireflies because some species are toxic to frogs in real life? Seriously? We play a block game where I feed cows until they have babies…
User 9617saphs thinks the developers are fundamentally on the wrong track with their updates:
I think Mojang Studios should first and foremost finish the announced features and tilt the release deadlines in summer and winter. They would also need to improve transparency and communication with the community, and be more careful when showing concepts and determining the scope of an update
Overall, many players are apparently disappointed that features they were expecting are now being postponed. Colleague Géraldine will probably not be happy about the news either, for her exploring in Minecraft comes first
What do you think about the fact that 1.19 has to do without new birch forests and fireflies? Do you understand the reasoning or are you disappointed by the news? Feel free to post your opinion in the comments.
