You can now play more new features of the big update 1.20. We tell you what’s in Snapshot 22w45a and how to download it.
If there’s one thing we can never have enough of in Minecraft, it’s blocks! Blocks in all colours and … Shapes. Well okay, they’re all block-shaped, I guess. The point is: The new playable snapshot 22W45A brings more features and especially blocks from the big, still nameless update 1.20 into the game. We tell you what’s inside and how to play the snapshot now.
This is what’s in Snapshot 22W45A
The last Snapshot 22W42A already added features like the camels, the hanging signs and the functional bookshelves. We have summarised the most exciting features of snapshot 22W45A, the latest preview version of Minecraft 1.50, for you here:
- (New Bamboo Block and Stripped Bamboo Block): A highlight of the new update 1.20 are definitely the new Bamboo Blocks, which finally upgrade bamboo to a functional lumber. In snapshot 22W45A you can now admire the latest version of the bamboo blocks and stripped bamboo blocks. (One bamboo block requires 9 bamboo. However, if you process it into bamboo boards, you will only get 2 instead of 4, as is usual with normal wood).
- (Revision for the Vex): The Vex has been given a new design that brings it closer to its smaller colleague, the Allay from 1.19.
- (Inventory in creative mode): The inventory in creative mode has been cleaned up. For example, there is now a new tab for coloured blocks and the sorting of the complete catalogue is more logically structured.
- (New default skins for offline players): The announced new player skins are now also selectable offline.
- (Technical innovations and bug fixes): In addition, there are numerous detail improvements. For example, your horses can no longer choke when entering a portal. Yay.
How to play the snapshot 22W45A
Watch out, the officially available version is, as usual, still a beta that won’t be available forever. So not all content is in there yet – but maybe one or two bugs. But intrepid adventurers can easily explore the new world:
- The snapshot only works in the Java version of Minecraft.
- Open your Minecraft launcher and select the Installations tab at the top. Check the box for Development Versions on the right.
- Your installations should now show the latest development version. Click on Play to the right of the name and the beta will be downloaded and then launched.
- The beta is a standalone Minecraft version. You can load your worlds, but your progress will not be carried over after the beta.
- Note: To see the new bamboo blocks, you will also need to activate the new data pack when you create your world.
We recently did an in-depth interview with the developers of Minecraft and asked them about the future of Minecraft. There they told us that they want to support and expand Minecraft for 50 years or more and that they already have a very precise plan for this. What do you think of the new update? Will you play in the snapshot? Are you currently active in Minecraft? What features would you like to see in 1.20? Tell us in the comments!
