Spectacular buildings belong to Minecraft like blocks in a child’s room. Now a player has gone to great lengths to rebuild a famous Van Gogh painting.
No other computer game inspires creativity like Minecraft, and this is demonstrated here in an impressive way. A player with a lot of talent created the famous Van Gogh painting Starry Night in the block sandbox.
But not flatly with oil paints on a canvas, as the master himself preferred … but completely with three dimensions in Minecraft, creating a mildly surreal city scene that you don’t see every day.

You can see the spectacular build on Reddit, where user ChrisDaCow offers a tour around his work of art. The post racked up over 50,000 upvotes within a day:

Viewers are showing their enthusiasm for the painstakingly crafted replica of the classic 1889 painting. Starry Night is considered one of the most important works by Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh – and one of the most famous works of European art.
ChrisDaCow built a small city like the one on Van Gogh’s original in the Museum of Modern Art of New York. The typical swirls and of course the eponymous stars are also clearly recognisable.
A great project
Van Gogh’s opus magnum is not something that even a talented Minecraft creator can just shake out of his sleeve. In a nearly nine-minute YouTube video, ChrisDaCow provides a detailed insight into the complicated process of creating his 3D replica.
