A first snapshot lets you test the new Minecraft update 1.19 right now. We explain what’s inside and how it works.
The highly anticipated update 1.19 aka The Wild is just around the corner in 2022 and will drastically change Minecraft once again. It will give biomes like the birch forest or the swamps a completely new identity, but also bring a new biome called The Deep Dark – and of course a lot of new enemies, animals and materials. The good news is that you can play some of them right now!
How to play The Wild right now
Watch out, the officially available version is still a beta. So it doesn’t contain all the content yet – but maybe one or two bugs. But intrepid adventurers can easily explore the new world:
- The snapshot only works in the Java version of Minecraft.
- Open your Minecraft launcher and select the Installations tab at the top. Check the box for Development Versions on the right. This will prevent damage to your worlds.
- Your installations should now show the latest development version. Click on Play to the right of the name and the beta will be downloaded and then launched.
- The beta is a standalone version of Minecraft. You can load your worlds but your progress will not be carried over after the beta.
Also, keep in mind that old Java accounts have been locked that you still log into via Mojang account. You can still switch to a Microsoft account though, we have all the info for you here:https://www.global-esports.news/minecraft/minecraft-old-java-accounts-will-soon-be-blocked-what-you-have-to-do-now/What’s in the beta
The snapshot already contains a lot of content from the big The Wild update. Included is one, but actually two new creatures, namely the frog and the tadpole. The latter evolves into a frog.
In addition, there are a number of new blocks made of mangrove wood and you can explore the Deep Dark biome – but without the creepy Warden. You can read about all the contents of the upcoming update 1.19 in our comprehensive overview. All contents of the snapshot can be found on the (official website).
