Minecraft with realistic graphics – is that really a good idea? A recent graphics mod shows fascinating but also curious results.
So, Minecraft looks the way it looks by default. And that’s not only the charm of the sandbox, it’s also essential for the mechanics. After all, Minecraft is all about blocks – which you can’t just replace with realistic trees and rocks. Instead, you can provide those very blocks with realistic textures. And that can take some getting used to!
Minecraft in 8K with realistic textures and shaders
The modder Digital Dreams has taken a look at Minecraft and presented the texture pack “Optimum Realism” in a new video. This shows eight minutes of showcase of different textures such as wood, stone, grass and various building materials. The result? Impressive and uncanny. But see for yourself! Remember to select the appropriate resolution when playing.
The combination of almost empty houses made of cubes and realistically textured walls with ray tracing creates such a curious mixture that it can almost seem creepy.
Not surprisingly, it requires the crème de la crème of hardware. The following components were used for the video:
- Mainboard: Asus Prime x470-Pro
- CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32Gb
- GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 3090
- SSD: Crucial mx500 2TB
The (Textures Pack) and the (Shader) are available for download for Patreon supporters. By the way, this is not the first realistic texture pack for Minecraft that Digital Dreams has tested out in his videos. A while back, he also showed a showcase that focused mainly on (realistic nature textures).
The modder’s past work includes Middle-earth: Mordor’s Shadow, Witcher 3 and Skyrim to grandiose high-end graphics.
What do you think of the result? Would you like to try the graphics mod or do you think that realistic graphics and Minecraft don’t go together? Tell us in the comments
