New World New Patch 1.5

The story finale, a new weapon and even more: Update 1.5 is the biggest content update for New World so far.

First it was supposed to be released on 29 March, then on 30 March: We’re talking about Update 1.5 for New World. The biggest update to date for the online role-playing game brings numerous new contents on paper, but these are still waiting in the wings.

Shortly before the planned release, Amazon announced via Twitter that the release would be postponed once again. It is still unclear when the patch will be released. The contents, on the other hand, have been known for a long time.

New World: What’s in Update 1.5

The big update 1.5 is dominated by two major highlights: First, Amazon brings the previous story to a close, and second, there’s a new weapon.

Story Finale: Heart of the Stormwind

The focus of Update 1.5 is the final chapter of the story: You go to Bruchberg and receive the final quest from Yseult Meredith. This quest will lead you to the new expedition with the same name. There you go to the capital of Bleakheim and discover secrets from the past of antagonist Isabella.

The new expedition takes high-level players to the capital of Bleakheim and to Isabella.

Isabella is then also the final enemy to defeat. To complete the expedition, you must also be level 60 and have an armour value between 550 and 570.

New Weapon: Blunderbuss

The Blunderbuss is a new ranged weapon that deals its highest damage at medium and short range. Its greatest feature is that it scales with strength and intelligence, making it particularly suitable for melee fighters and mages.

You hold the blunderbuss in one hand and it deals powerful damage, especially at close range.

Like all other weapons, the blunderbuss has two different talent trees:

  • Enclosure: This is about getting close to enemies so you can give them a full broadside from a few yards
  • Chaos: Here, on the other hand, you stay at a distance and rely on attacks with a large area effect

Last but not least, there is of course a new quest line for legendary weapons, provided you are level 60 and have reached the maximum skill level with the blunderbuss.

Other New Features

Besides the two obvious highlights, there are also other features that will be added with update 1.5:

  • World Paintings: In each area you can find two different easels that will unlock paintings for your house
  • Oracle Bone, the Loot Collector: A new enemy roams Aeternum, reminiscent of the Loot Goblins from Diablo. If you hit the Oracle Bone, you have 45 seconds to finish it off and always receive a named weapon and other rewards in return
  • Stinky the Hunter: For level 30 players, there is a new enemy in Weaver’s Bog called Stinky who drops three named items
  • Yetis: Some Yetis of the Winter Convergence remain loyal to Aeternum and continue to wander the Egg Desert
  • Revised Territories: Boundless Island and Adrometus have been changed a bit in terms of layout and enemies
  • Passive Regeneration: Until now, you did not automatically regenerate health points after battles in New World. That’s over now, because from now on you will automatically receive a buff that heals you outside of enemy encounters.
  • Infinite Ammo: Ranged weapons such as the bow or musket no longer require ammunition. Instead, stone arrows or the standard cartridges are now infinitely available. Only better types of ammunition must still be produced and are consumed, but they also offer damage modifiers.
  • In addition, there are some balance changes, such as a higher storage bonus for storage chests, and countless bug fixes. The complete changes of update 1.5 can be found on the (Website of New World).

What happens after that?

Despite the story finale, update 1.5 is not the end of New World. Instead, there will be more new content beyond that, as the developers recently reaffirmed. There is even a rough roadmap until autumn 2022.

Two more expeditions are to follow in the summer, while a new area will be added to the game world in the autumn. However, Amazon has not yet revealed any detailed information.

New expedition, new weapon and a finale: Will Update 1.5 lure you back to New World once again or have you already left the online role-playing game behind? And if so, how might Amazon entice you to return? Feel free to write your thoughts in the comments!
