A new developer video reveals that you will finally be able to play the final chapter of the story in March. And there’s a new weapon to boot.
It was more than a little disappointing when you reached the final area after weeks of adventuring and the main story of New World abruptly ended with a “Please come back later”.
That is now to change: At the end of the latest developer video, game director Scott Lane hints that the content update in March will also finally continue the story. It seems as if the big showdown at Bruchberg is imminent.

February patch tackles over 700 issues
The bulk of the video begins by describing the hotly anticipated February update, which brings improvements including:
- Fighting should be easier in future thanks to revised animations
- The PvP mode Outpost Storm will get new rewards
- Leveling and Endgame should become much less grind-heavy
- The travel cooldown is halved and the Azoth cost is set to 20. The weight penalty is completely removed
- Quests from level 10 give 50 percent more experience
- Tax burden in cities will be permanently reduced, companies will receive five times the amount actually paid as compensation
- Increasing your competence value through plaster is made easier and once a day you are allowed to buy plaster from the faction trader
- In total, the update includes 350 minor and 225 major adjustments
Donnerbox and story finale coming in March
Later in the conversation, the developer mentions the roadmap planned for March 2022, and doesn’t miss the opportunity to briefly refer to the content of the March update. After the Unheilsstulpen from November, there will finally be the next new weapon: the blunderbuss.
According to (earlier statements), this weapon is a more mobile alternative to the musket. It is designed for short to medium range and would fire fast, explosive shots. However, there is no confirmed information about its skill tree yet.
Also in March, the main storyline will finally reach its conclusion. It is still unclear whether the grand finale of the previous storyline has to do with Commander Thorpe again. However, his presence in the cathedral behind the final elite area in Bruchberg indicated this.
As the February update is still a long time coming at the time of this writing and may not be released until early March, the story journey is unlikely to continue until late March or early April at the earliest.
