With the help of new detection programmes, AFKs in the new MMORPG New World are kicked off the server and now receive harsher punishments.

Amazon’s MMORPG has been playable for about a week. One big problem that New World has, however, is still the queues with absurdly high waiting times. Especially in the first few days, players waited for hours, and due to a bug at the end of the queue, they even ended up at the end of the queue again.

Because of the queues and the bugs, it is hardly surprising that the servers are full almost around the clock. After all, once you’ve made it onto the server, you don’t want to give up your safe place again so quickly. However, AFK players have clogged up the queues even more, so that active players can no longer get onto the server.

The community manager of New World, HardcoreHenry, assures in an announcement that they are working on a solution to the problem. And even if he does not give any details about the kick system yet, the New World developers promise to find a suitable solution for the problem.

Tricks against AFK penalties lose effect

Some players get around the AFK kick by automatically running their character into a wall or by setting interval-based macros that trigger certain actions. Soon, however, these methods will no longer be sufficient to avoid being recognised as AFK and kicked from the server. Players who continue to be detected as inactive even after a kick will also receive harsher punishments. Even though no details are mentioned in the update, we strongly assume that bans as punishment will follow.

It is not yet known when the new AFK detector will be introduced. Nevertheless, the community can hope that they will soon no longer be trapped in the queue for ages.
