Nexon reveals the season one and console release date for KartRider: Drift, as well as what preseason players can expect going into it.
Nexon’s KartRider: Drift will be launching its official season 1, themed and titled „New World,” on March 8. At this time, KartRider: Drift will also become available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with full cross-platform play unlocked across mobile, PC, and console.
For the uninitiated, Nexon’s KartRider franchise began back in 2004 and has since amassed 380 million players, largely dominating the Asian market. In fact, its Asian esports league has existed since 2005, making it the longest-running league to date. KartRider: Drift fans have been enjoying its preseason so far, but there’s more to come in February and March.
Ahead of KartRider: Drift’s season one launch on March 8, there will be an update on February 15 aimed at „adjustments to the core game experienced based on player feedback.” What that exactly entails has not yet been revealed, but current players can look forward to more information in the coming weeks. At the same time, March 8 and the launch of New World is no doubt big for the game and franchise as a whole. Alongside PC, console, and mobile crossplay, the new season will add new tracks and race modes, a season-long theme, new daily player rewards, and new events for players to take part in, „plus many other improvements.”
For those who will be joining the game on its console platform, KartRider: Drift’s gameplay has been described as simple to learn but hard to master. It works in the simplicity of standard kart racing experiences with tons of nuance and skill mastery challenges across its license challenges, Item Mode, Speed Mode, Time Attack Mode, and so on. Furthermore, the game offers a huge suite of customization options that allow players to cross the finish line in style, while adding more characters, karts, accessories, and emotes via the standard Racing Pass, with even more content unlocked in the Premium Racing Pass.
There are two things KartRider: Drift players need to keep in mind ahead of the season one launch. First off, all progress unlocked during the preseason carries over, so fans don’t have to worry about losing anything. Secondly, KartRider: Drift should not be mistaken for KartRider: Rush+, as it will continue to operate as a standalone title with no crossplay between it and Drift.
KartRider: Drift is available now on PC and select mobile devices. It’ll release on the PlayStation and Xbox Stores on March 8.
