The major update High Calibre for Rainbow Six Siege is out and new operator Thorn is mixing up the attackers with the Razorbloom Grenade.
The fourth Season in Year 6 of Rainbow Six Siege is here and it’s called High Calibre. Or to put it more simply: There’s another big update and a new operator including a special ability. And this time it’s really something: Brianna “Thorn” Skehan is now available for selection on the side of the defenders and brings a deadly trap into play with her Razorbloom grenade.
Thorn at a glance
How Razorbloom WorksThorn’s gadget is an adhesive mine that can be thrown at any surface and will arm itself there. If an enemy enters the radius of the Razorbloom, after a short delay an explosive blast of sharp blades is fired in all directions, killing instantly.
What makes the ability so strong: Unlike many other traps in the defender’s arsenal, the Razerbloom is able to instantly take out an operator at full HP – and hardly any gadget in the game can do that! Kapkan’s Entry Denial Mines, for example, don’t kill instantly and even Frost’s Welcome Mats only put victims into downed status. Additionally, Razerblooms also stick to walls or ceilings, making them harder to detect.
How to use Thorn’s Gadget effectively: Especially narrow spots on the map and important access points can be effectively sealed off with Razerbloom grenades. Especially when things get hectic at the end of the round and attackers become careless, the gadget is valuable.
Even more valuable tips with Thorn are available from the developers themselves:
The other equipment
- Primary weapons: UZK50Gi SMG or M870 Shotgun
- Secondary weapons: 1911 TacOps or C75 Auto
- Equipment: Mobile shield or barbed wire
- Stats: Health 2 of 3, Speed 2 of 3 (balanced)
With High Calibre, a fresh Battle Pass will also launch, as it does every new Season, which can now be unlocked 30 percent faster than before and includes 130 rewards such as skins, weapon charms and more. It also introduces a daily victory bonus that pays out more Renown points.
As always, the update also brings some balance changes, interface tweaks and small comfort improvements. On the official website of R6 High Calibre, you can find the (complete overview with all patch notes)
