Twitch streamer shroud is back in the competitive esport scene. In CS:GO he became a legend. Now he wants to prove himself in VALORANT.
Former CS:GO player Michael “shroud” Grzesiek is returning to the pro scene, but not in Valve’s first-person shooter. It was announced on Friday that the Canadian will become a permanent member of the Sentinels and will be looking to compete with the big international scene in VALORANT.
For shroud’s many fans, it’s the mega-comeback of the year – shroud will once again be actively involved in the esports scene. He will take part in the North American VALORANT Champions Tour Last Chance Qualifier together with the Sentinels. The well-known team already managed to win the VCT Masters in Rykjavík in 2021. There, the Sentinels beat their final opponent Fnatic clearly with 3:0.
However, 2022 seems to be going a bit bumpy for the Sentinels so far. In the VCT Challengers Stage 2, the team didn’t even make the playoffs and finished the group stage without a win. This shroud could now change and bring back the winning streak for Sentinels. After all, the streamer was once one of the best esports players in CS:GO.
In Counter-Strike, shroud became a legend back in the day with Cloud9. From 2014 to 2017, the streamer was a permanent part of the team. Although shroud was unable to win a major title with Cloud9 during this time, he still made a name for himself in the scene with his aiming skills. As a full-time streamr, shroud was also able to prove this in other games such as PUBG or Call of Duty and now also in VALORANT. There he is currently in the Diamond 3 rank.
The Sentinels now have a reputation as a “streamer team”, not least due to VALORANT star TenZ. In terms of reach on social networks as well as platforms like Twitch, the organisation remains world class. With the signing of shroud, the spotlight will be on this team, especially in the first few weeks.
