Riot Games is planning a new character selection system for VALORANT. It’s supposed to be nice and sequential in the future.

On Monday it was announced in a developer talk by Riot Games that there will be changes to the selection process in VALORANT. This is said to have similarities to League of Legends and avoid the annoying insta-lock.

During a developer talk, game designer Jon Walker tells us about planned changes in VALORANT. One of these issues is the Insta-Lock, which often gets on the last nerve of players. The participants choose a character in a split second, which in turn has an effect on the team constellation and the course of the match.

The new model called “Cascading Agent Pick

” is intended to counteract this problem. In the future, the players:inside are to be kept free for the selection of characters one after the other. The order will be randomly determined at the beginning of a match. The first person then has about 15 to 20 seconds to choose an agent. However, players are not forced to choose first, as it is possible to simply wait and decide on a character later.

The new selection system is very reminiscent of the draft pick from League of Legends. There, the champions are selected in a random order by the players. However, it is not yet known when the new model will be integrated into VALORANT. Nevertheless, according to the game designer Walker, this could be in the second or third act.
