Agent 21 in VALORANT will be a controller according to an official blog entry. There are also new, clear clues about the origin and his skills.
The upcoming agent in VALORANT will be a controller. This was confirmed by John Goscicki, Senior Character Producer at Riot Games, in a (blog entry on the official VALORANT website) on Tuesday. In the blog entry, Goscicki also placed rather obvious hints about the origin and abilities of the new agent.
Agent 21 with water abilities?
So allusions to water keep hiding in the blog entry about the new VALORANT agent. “We’ve seen that controllers are in a bit of a drought,” the producer writes, among other things. “I don’t want to flood you with too much information” and “the introduction of controllers is a blue ocean of possibilities” provide further clues to the theme. The community therefore speculates that Agent 21’s abilities in VALORANT will revolve around the element of water.
Agent 21 in VALORANT presumably from India
Even clearer are the clues to the origin and identity of the new VALORANT agent. Presumably, the new character comes from India. This is indicated by the picture John Goscicki inserted in the blog entry. The picture shows a notebook with a map of India and the word “Mumbai” written in it.
Time for the Indian in me to show off.

Hidden in the picture are many more little hints about the country of India, (as Twitter user “IncorrectValo” summarised in a thread) The allusions to the land and the element of water could also confirm the presumed name of Agent 21. Back in August, the name “Varun Batra” had surfaced in a VALORANT message, which many attribute to the new Agent 21. Varuna is an Indian deity closely associated with water.
The blog entry ends with a sentence in Hindi: “Jald hi milte hain”. This means something like “See you soon”. So the release of Agent 21 in VALORANT could be soon.
