The 16th agent in VALORANT likes to put the opponent on mute. Robot KAY/O convinces with his kit and possesses the skills for an effective initiator.
KAY/O is now playable. With the start of Episode 3 on Tuesday, the 16th VALORANT agent enters the fray. His abilities allow for many possibilities.
KAY/O will shake up the meta-game in VALORANT with his kit that is both novel and classic. On the surface, the agent is best suited to initiate advances and retakes on spots.
Flexible Kit of the Robot Agent
KAY/O makes ample use of already familiar abilities. Blinding Grenades and Mollys not only make his standard abilities relatively accessible, but also give him a high skill in any lineups. KAY/0’s Zero/Point ability, which blocks enemy utility, is certainly one of the most impressive skills. The robot agent fires a blade that can get stuck in any surface. Anyone who is an enemy within a certain radius of the blade loses the effectiveness of their abilities.
The glare/grenade is a standard flash that blinds everyone in sight. This ability has two options. For with a left click the flash of the grenade starts after 1.6 seconds, with a right click it starts after one second. The FRAG/MENT is an explosive grenade with multiple damage waves and is reminiscent of Raze’s paint shells.
KAY/O’s Ultimate ZERO/CMD makes him a real threat and rightly earns him the title of initiator. With the ability, he pushes a blast wave from himself and suppresses the enemies that are in the radius. In addition, the Ulti gives him a chance at a second life. If Kay/O is eliminated while the Ulti is active, he enters a “destabilised state” from which he can be revived by a teammate.

The role of the KAY/O in the team
KAY/O is similar to the agents Brimstone and Phoenix. He can initiate fights and also lead them. The combination of flash and suppression ability makes KAY/O the perfect entry fragger. Target selection will be the most difficult part of playing this agent. It is crucial to find the right ones, isolate them and suppress them. Then nothing will stand in the way of a successful round.
The Ultimate provides obvious room for error for the opponent and teammates have the opportunity to pick out trades. After a completed attack, a possible revive brings KAY/O back into the fray. The only limitation with the Ultimate, however, is the timer on which the revive is set. This is because if the timer is missed, the robot remains incapacitated for the round.
Where is KAY/O played?
The good thing about KAY/O is that it can be played almost anywhere with its kit. The Initiator has only a few disadvantages. KAY/O has no smokes in his utility and can therefore be used for information gathering. This makes him best suited for maps like Breeze, Bind and Split, where agents with a similar function are widely used.
KAY/O can generally be combined with most lineups. Similar to Astra, the robo-agent gives the quintet more control and presence on attacks and retakes. However, enough practice is necessary to correctly assess the opponents and to be able to surprise them with flashes or stuns at the right time.
