On 15 November, the season finale of the Valorant Female scene kicks off in the capital of Germany. Eight Valorant teams from all over the world will play for the title of the first major for female and non-binary players at the Game Changers Championship.

Through the local VCT series, teams have been able to prove themselves over the past few months and earn points to qualify for the Grand Final in November. In the end, only the best teams managed to prevail against the great competition.

Valorant: Qualifiers for the Game Changers

  • Cloud9 White (NA): The absolute favourite for the offline event. The team of team manager Ysabel “Noukky” Müller is the absolute power in North America. The Cloud9 team has won the last six regional events without any major problems.

  • Shopify Rebellion GC (NA): While always overshadowed by Cloud9 in second or third place, Diana “sonder” Zhang’s team still managed to confidently qualify for the Champions via the season standings.
  • Team Liquid Brazil (Brazil): The Brazilian representation of Team Liquid will start as one of the representatives for the South American region. Whether the female teams can represent the continent as strongly as LOUD will only become clear in the course of the event.
  • KRÜ Fem (LATAM): In the regional final between KRÜ Fem and FiRePOWER, the female representation of KRÜ Esports clearly prevailed with a score of 3-0 and, like the main team before it, is allowed to fly to the Champions.
  • Guild X (EMEA): In the last EMEA Series it finally worked out. For the first time Guild X won the title in Europe. Now the team with the German player Vivian “roxi” Schilling has to prove herself on the big stage.

  • G2 Gozen (EMEA): The narrow defeat in the last regional final against Guild X is definitely a visible scratch in G2’s armour. In Berlin, Gozen would therefore certainly like to take revenge.
  • FENNEL Female (East Asia): FENNEL Female clearly prevailed over the rest of the competition from the East Asian region at the qualifying event. How strong the Japanese team can perform in the international competition is still unclear.
  • X10 Sapphire (APAC Elite): In the APAC Elite tournament for the last ticket to the season finals, X10 Sapphire narrowly beat Alter Ego Celesté 3-2 in the final. The team has been very successful in the APAC region so far, but Nabila “nabbsky” Sulthana and her teammates will surely have to get used to the big spotlight first.

Small stage for a big promise

However, when it came to ticket sales, the Gamechangers team community was sorely disappointed. Far too few tickets were made available for sale. For the big plans and immense spotlight that Riot wants to achieve with its pioneering position in female eSports, 174 seats are simply too few and a punch in the stomach.

Many will, of course, follow the event online. But the event is certainly a step towards equality and eSports for all.
