The playoffs of the different Challengers are finished, the participants are fixed. You can find out who will be travelling to Reykjavík here

Last year, the offline tournament paid out $600,000 in prize pool, it was the biggest success for Team Sentinels so far. This year, however, the team failed to qualify for the Masters. Nevertheless, the competition is once again filled with the world’s best teams.

Only the strongest players could secure a place: Three European teams, two from the USA, two more from the Challengers APAC, and last but not least the winners from the Challengers Japan, Korea, Latin America and Brazil. In addition, a tenth place play-off will be played between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Leviatán, the runners-up from the two South American leagues.

G2 Esports sovereign, Team Liquid as lucky advancers

Through the EMEA Challenger Playoffs, teams Fnatic, G2 Esports and FunPlus Phoenix qualified. Due to travel restrictions in Ukraine and Russia, FunPlus Phoenix, who have three players affected by the restrictions in their squad – Kirill ‘ANGE1′ Karasiow, Andrey ‘Shao’ Kiprsky and Dmitry ‘SUYGETSU’ Ilyushin – are unable to field a team for Iceland. Team Liquid was invited to move up for the event.

G2 also secured a ticket to Reykjavík after a strong run through the loser bracket. In the final of the loser’s bracket of the playoff tournament tree, Auni ‘AvovA’ Chahade and his team came away with a 3-0 win over Fnatic, who were previously crushed by FunPlus Phoenix 13-0 and 13-10.

In North America, OpTic Gaming and The Guard successfully held their own in the playoffs, with Cloud9 narrowly missing out on a Masters appearance with a third-place finish. Sentinels, who won the 2021 tournament in Iceland, finished 7th-8th in the Challengers North America.

Other qualified teams for the offline tournament in Iceland are DRX (Challenger Korea), Paper Rex and XERXIA (Challengers APAC), ZETA DIVISION (Challengers Japan), LOUD (Challengers Brazil), KRÜ Esports (Challengers LATAM) as well as the winner of the remaining playoff match in South America.
