WoW Shadowlands Havoc Demon Hunter

The dark masters with their powerful wargleven have embraced devil magic.

The Havoc Demon Hunter is one of the damage dealers in World of Warcraft and also cuts a good figure in Shadowlands. Alternatively, the Vengeance Demon Hunter is a tanking specialization.

The most important changes

Devastation Demon Hunters can now also use the Firebrand Aura, which generates 20 fury over the course of six seconds. Your Blade Dance will now only hit a maximum of five targets, and it will no longer increase your dodge chance by 100% for one second. The damage of Chaos Strike and Devil’s Fury has been increased. When Eye Beam finishes channeling, you gain 15% speed for twelve seconds.

Blizzard has reworked many of the specialization talents. The level 50 talent Nemesis has been replaced with the level 30 talent Devil’s Blast. To compensate, the damage of Devil’s Fire is increased, but the ability now only hits a maximum of eight enemies. At level 30, the new talent Glevenorkan is added, which fires two demonic glevens that deal high chaos damage to five nearby enemies over the course of three seconds.

The level 30 talent Devil Mastery has been replaced with Unleashed Chaos. The new talent ensures that after activating Firebrand Aura, your inner demon will slam into nearby enemies at the end of the next use of Devil’s Rage, causing chaos damage.

How to play the Devastation Demon Hunter

Your attribute prioritization looks like this as a Havoc Demon Hunter:

  1. Agility
  2. Versatility
  3. Critical Hit Rating
  4. Speed
  5. Mastery

Basically, with Demon’s Bite you build up Irascibility, which you need for your abilities. The key is to manage your Irascibility resource wisely. All other abilities are used according to the following priority: Devil’s Blast, Firebrand Aura, Blade Dance, Devil’s Blade (if below 80 Irascibility), Eye Beam, Chaos Strike/Extinguish, and Demon’s Bite.

StageTalentDescription
15FelbladeCharges towards the target and deals 674 fire damage. Demon Bite has a chance to complete the cooldown of Devil’s Blade.
25Burning HatredFirebrand Aura generates an additional 30 Irascibility over the course of six seconds.
30Glaive TempestShoots two demonic glints in a whirlwind of energy, dealing 2,550 Chaos damage over three seconds to five nearby enemies.
35Soul RendingShoots two demonic glints in a whirlwind of energy, dealing 2,550 Chaos damage over three seconds to five nearby enemies.
40First BloodReduces the cost of Blade Dance by 20 Fury and increases the ability’s damage against the first target hit to 1,569.
45Fel EruptionStakes the target, dealing 419 Chaos damage and stunning them for four seconds.
50Fel BarrageUnleashes a stream of devil energy over the course of three seconds, dealing 4,330 Chaos damage to up to eight enemies within eight meters.

Your very powerful offensive cooldown Metamorphosis is only used when you have at least 80 Fury to get the most out of it. Devil’s Rage should be used with caution. When using it, make sure that you don’t get out of range of your opponent, because then you won’t be able to use your full damage potential.
