WoW Shadowlands Brewmaster Monk Guide

The burly tanks use mystical brews to avoid damage and protect friends.

The Brewmaster Monk does incoming damage with various brews and defends his allies as a tank. Alternatively, you can play the Monk as a Wind Walker (damage dealer) or a Mistweaver (healer).

The most important changes

As a Brewmaster, you can now also use Whirling Crane Kick and Touch of Death. Touch of Death is back in its original design and kills enemies instantly if they have less Health than you.

Brewmasters will still have staggered damage removed equal to 200% of the damage dealt. You may again choose to use a two-handed weapon or two one-handed weapons.

The passive ability Footwork is back, increasing the effectiveness of your stagger by 100%. Footwork is triggered by Barrel Strike, Blackout Kick, and Whirling Crane Kick. Celestial Brew is a new ability that absorbs damage based on the amount of your attack power.

Since the opponent is affected by Barrel Blow, he will receive Fire damage over time from our Fire Ode.

The former talent Summon Niuzao the Black Ox is now always available to you as an ability. While Niuzao is active, 25% of damage delayed by Relay is instead staggered by Niuzao. In addition, Niuzao does 183 area damage plus 25% of the recently removed staggered damage.

At level 45, Exploding Barrel is included as a new talent that deals fire damage and blinds enemies. At level 50, Heavenly Flames is a new addition. It increases the damage reduction from Fire Doom, and the Fire Doom Dot is transferred to other enemies through Whirling Crane Kick.

WoW Shadowlands Brewmaster Monk
Niuzao the black ox is at least temporarily at our side in the fight.

You use the abilities Barrel Strike, Blackout Kick, Fire Ember and Touch of Death whenever they are available. If nothing else is available, use Tiger Claw. However, you should only cast this if you have more than 65 Energy.

Against multiple enemies, you should also use Rushing Jade Wind. The important thing as a brewmaster is how you handle the staggered damage. You can use Purifying Brew to cancel out 50% of the staggered damage. This also boosts Celestial Brew, so you should always consume Purifying Brew first. For a strong defensive cooldown, use Summon Niuzao the Black Ox.
