With the upcoming patch for WoW Shadowlands, all players can look forward to The Wandering Urtum as a free mount.
Last year, Blizzard asked the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands community to vote for a new free mount. In the end, the Wandering Urtum, which will finally find its way into the game with update 9.0.5, won by a clear margin.
Speaking of mounts: In World of Warcraft, you can fall back on countless creatures for faster transportation. In our guide, we’ll tell you where you can get the mounts of the current add-on.
At Blizzcon 2021, Blizzard presented the final version of the Urtum, which has a few special features.
The Wandering Urtum introduced
The Wandering Urtum is basically a huge tree that is intended as a mount for a single player. Unfortunately, you can’t take other players with you. However, the developers have given the Urtum two exciting details:
Changing appearance: Since the Urtum is a tree, it changes its appearance to match the season. In summer and spring it shines with green leaves, in autumn they turn red-brown and in winter the colors white and blue dominate. In addition, the Wandering Urtum loses a few leaves depending on the season.
Stowaway: Also on board the Urtum is a small caterpillar that hides in the branch hole of the mount. Every now and then it appears behind the player and treats itself to a few rays of sunshine. When choosing a mount, a large caterpillar was also available, but it didn’t meet with much approval, so the miniature version still makes it into the game.
Who gets the mount?
In short, anyone who logs into World of Warcraft: Shadowlands once with an active subscription after the release of patch 9.0.5. The Wandering Urtum will be provided to you for free and without any effort.
It is not known if the free distribution will end at some point. The patch itself will probably be released sometime in March. Currently, it is still on the PTR, the official test server.
You can find out even more info about the Urtum and especially how the individual teams at Blizzard have technically implemented the new mount in the developer video:

What’s next for Shadowlands?
The upcoming patch 9.0.5, which among other things wants to address the much criticized loot problem, is only a further intermediate step to the next major update. At Blizzcon 2021, Blizzard announced Chains of Domination, the first content patch for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
In addition to a continuation of the story and a new area, other exciting content awaits you.
A release date for patch 9.1 is not yet available. At the moment, patch 9.0.5 is still on the test server, after which Chains of Domination can be put through its paces. It remains to be seen when it will be released on the live server. We assume that it could be in April or May.
